OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
It does not appear that Luis Figueroa-Vasquez is even a licensed dentist and cops say he didn't act like one either. He's accused of drugging one of his would-be patients and then taking advantage of her sexually.
Detectives want the public to take a good look at Figueroa-Vasquez's mug shot, because they believe there are more victims out there. The fake dentist was arrested over the weekend after a woman at the Cobblestone Apartments claimed he did more than fix her teeth.
"The victim believes he used some sort of anesthetic that would be used at a dentist's office, she's not sure. But he did use more than a few drugs and, once she was a little groggy, that's when she says he touched her inappropriately multiple times," said Twis Lizasuain, Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say Figueroa-Vasquez worked out of a pick-up truck. Inside, they found plenty of dental equipment, including the drugs they say he used to take advantage of his patient. In the back of the truck, they found a makeshift dental chair that's more like a glorified lawn chair.
"He was referred to this area by one of the victim's friends. That's why we are looking for other victims both here and in Sarasota," Lizasuain said.
Figueroa-Vasquez told investigators he's a real dentist, but in Peru. There are no records yet to support that, but investigators say there's no way he should be practicing in Florida out of the back of a pick-up truck, even if he didn't assault patients.
Eyewitness News requested a jailhouse interview with Figueroa-Vasquez, but he declined. Investigators said he wouldn't answer their questions either, but they're confident the attempted rape charge will stick.
