DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —

The Daytona Beach Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a family's dog that was in their car when it was stolen.

The family's 2010 red Toyota Corolla was stolen from the Raceway Gas Station at 2575 W. International Speedway Blvd. on Monday around 8:20 p.m. with their dog, Laila, inside.

The car was recovered on Wednesday, but Laila has not been located. Laila is sorely missed by her family.

Laila is a 4-year-old tan Pug/Beagle mix, or "puggle." She is microchipped, but did not have a collar on at the time of the theft.

Police said if you know the whereabouts of Laila, you can remain anonymous, and the police are asking only for the safe return of this family pet.

If you know of Laila's whereabouts, you can contact the Daytona Beach Police Department at 386-671-5100. You can also drop her off at any local Humane Society or vet with no questions asked.

Once again, the Daytona Beach Police Department is only asking for the safe return of Lalia to the family that is upset about her disappearance.
