Fire Forces Evacuation Of Elderly From Assisted Living Facility

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —

Residents of the Indigo Palma Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach had to be evacuated Sunday morning after smoke filled part of the building.

Daytona Beach firefighters responded to the building on National Health Care Boulevard shortly after 6:30a.m. Sunday. When they arrived they found a fire had started in one of the rooms and the sprinkler system had been activated.

Once firefighters cleared the smoke and water from the building residents were allowed back inside. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
