Ellie's brother, Chris, heard the news on the radio and called his sister Laura, who was waiting at the airport. Both said they got a bad feeling when they heard about the crash.

"I just had a sense that it wasn't going to be good. So I called Laura and asked her if Ellie had arrived at the airport yet or not," Chris Kausner said. "So I called my dad and said, 'This is what's going on and it doesn't look good.'"

Ellie's family said her nephew's kindergarten class was having a special luncheon and he picked Ellie to go with him. Her brother and sister describe her as energetic, with a flair for the dramatic.
