Alligator Attacks And Kills Boy Thank you for voicing your opinion in our online survey! Should We Try To Reduce The Gator Population? Given the recent alligator attacks, should we try to reduce the gator population? Yes No TAVARES, Fla. -- Family and friends gathered Monday to bury a 12-year-old boy. Last week, Bryan Griffin was attacked and killed by an alligator in Tavares.

Family and friends of 12-year-old Bryan Griffin are wondering why they have to say goodbye to a boy so young, so soon. Several hundred mourners attended the funeral held at Saint Patrick Catholic Church.

Some brought flowers; others offered a prayer. All came with their sown special memory of a very adventurous 5th grader.

Trappers were able to capture the reptile that attacked and killed Bryan last Wednesday. It was killed Friday and forensic evidence confirmed it was the one, soon after.

In all, 11 alligators, ranging from eight to 13 feet, were pulled out of the dead river and killed after the attack.
