Taylor Dunn House Moved

TITUSVILLE, Fla. —

The nearly 100-year old Taylor Dunn house, which belonged to several generations of a prominent North Brevard family, was moved from its holding area on the BCC-Titusville Campus in North Brevard to the Parrish Medical Center (PMC) campus on Sunday, May 31, 2009, beginning at 7 a.m. One lane of US1 was closed for traffic as overhead power lines were moved and the house was taken from Oak Gove Road to the southwest corner of PMC’s main campus. The move took about two hours. This historic house will be moved onto its permanent structural foundation later in June.

This house, along with two other historical houses, will mark the entrance and create the formal beginning of the Health Village at Main Street PMC, an intergenerational program where the needs of seniors can be met in one charming location reminiscent of a small town. The Taylor Dunn house will be renovated and used as the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation’s philanthropy center. The rescued historic homes were in danger of demolition or decay, but will be renovated and used for many generations to come.

The first two offices slated to open on Main Street PMC sometime in 2010 will be the Parrish Senior Consultation Center, which offers health evaluations for seniors, and Parrish Senior Solutions, a one-stop shop where seniors and their caregivers can get information on services like home health or assisted living facilities. Both services are now located at 805 Century Medical Drive, Titusville, just south of PMC.
