Holy Miracle? Bibles Survive Fires, Tornado

Some people will say this story is about nothing more than coincidences. But for the people who have experienced what happened, it's a powerful thing and they think it all makes perfect sense.

Thank you for voicing your opinion in our online survey! Do You Think It's A Miracle Or Coincidence? In several cases, Bibles have been found to survive fires and even a tornado. Do you think this is a holy miracle or just a coincidence? Miracle Coincidence Not sure Don't care They're re-doing the Lord's work at Faith Baptist Church in Deltona. A fire ripped through the building last summer and the cleanup was a lot of work. What didn't burn was melted or ruined by water, all except for one thing (photo left).

"The Bible was laying on the communion table," says assistant pastor Don Herchenroder. "It was open...it wasn't damaged from the fire or water or anything."

The bible had belonged to his wife's father. "You can see the pages are soot-covered. Turn it over and they're white. It's amazing."

Some Think Intact Bibles Are A Miracle And maybe what's amazing is also just coincidence. But there are firefighters who have seen this happen too.

The only to survive a different fire was the family's bibles. "Seeing it is really, it's like it's reaching out and telling you something," says a firefighter.

The tornadoes that tore through Kissimmee in 1998 killed Roger Christiana's mom. They leveled her trailer home. The only thing left? Her bible (photo right).

"Two hundred and twenty mile-an-hour winds in 20 seconds that just blew that mobile home apart. This could have been anywhere," says Christiana.

Instead of being blown away, the Bible was sitting on top of the rubble, looking almost new.

There's no way to tell how often this happens. The stories are anecdotal at best. But the believers believe there's something bigger at work here that the fuzziness of coincidence.
