OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
Osceola County sheriff's investigators say the blurry school surveillance video shows Osceola County jail corrections officer Maxine Lloyd confronting a school employee and then attacking him in front of several school employees. In the video, the employee is holding an umbrella.
"She moved the car, got out of the vehicle and became involved in a physical altercation with him," explained Twis Lizasuain, Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
According to the arrest report, Lloyd was picking up her child from Koa Elementary School in Kissimmee and had stopped her car right on the crosswalk. Investigators say, when a school employee directing traffic asked Lloyd to move her car forward, she identified herself as an officer than shoved the employee.
"She told the school official that she was an officer and she repeated that she was an officer. But that's not relevant in this case. She was arrested because it was a parent that got involved in a physical altercation with a school employee," Lizasuain said.
Lloyd drove away and left the scene, but several hours later was arrested at her home. She bonded out early Tuesday morning.
The jail wouldn't specify Lloyd's exact role, but according to Lloyd's personnel file she has been employed with Osceola County since 2005 and has had no previous disciplinary actions.
Lloyd was arrested and charged with battery. An internal investigation is underway to determine if she should be fired.
