Local Plastic Surgeon Starts Sex-Offender Probation

A Winter Park plastic surgeon will start serving his three-year sentence of sex-offender probation Tuesday after admitting to the sexual battery of a 19-year-old man who was passed-out drunk.

Dr. Thomas Hunter is ordered to have no contact with the 19-year-old victim, but there's only one potential problem there. Hunter only met the teenager once and says he doesn't know what the teenager looks like.

The judge told Dr. Thomas Hunter on Tuesday that if he sees someone who he thinks resembles his 19-year-old victim, or if he's introduced to the victim in a social situation, he's to leave immediately.

Hunter was secretly tape-recorded during a telephone conversation with the 19-year-old. He admitted he initiated a sexual encounter with the teenager even though the teenager never opened his eyes and never said a word.

But prosecutors say, even prostitutes can be raped and what's relevant in this case is that Dr. Hunter admits the teenager never spoke or opened his eyes.

The victim told prosecutors he has faced public ridicule for pressing charges against the 48-year-old Winter Park plastic surgeon, so he urged prosecutors to settle the case without a trial and agreed to spare Dr. Hunter any prison time.

Hunter could've gone to prison for more than seven years.
