Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Orange County Toys for Tots warehouse Friday.

It is the first day the organization has opened up for this season's giveaways.

However, there are worries donations could run out before everyone is helped.

The first group of people arrived at about 6 a.m. Friday, and thousands of toys have already been given out.

The Marines told WFTV they are about 10,000 toys short of their goal, and only five days are left in their drive.

Mariluz Serrano was the first in line at the Toys for Tots warehouse.

"They're really good. I appreciate all they're doing for all the people in need," said Serrano.

Serrano picked up gifts for her 4-month-old son. She said without help, he'd get nothing for his first Christmas.

Sharon Reed said the drive helps give to her five grandchildren.

"It's very important because sometimes I am not able to get them anything, so when I come sign up for Toys for Tots it's a blessing, and I really appreciate what they do for us," said Reed.

But Toys for Tots officials said they are short on donations and, with just only five days left until the drive is over, they're hopeful they'll meet their goal.

To donate:

Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Reindeer Run, Saturday, Dec. 15 at SeaWorld.
or
Bring toys to the Channel 9 Studios at 490 E. South St. in Orlando during business hours.

Donations will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Friday.
