Surveillance camera records armed robbery at Orange County 7-Eleven

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

Deputies are investigating another convenience store robbery that happened in Orange County on Friday.

Authorities said the 7-Eleven on Clarcona-Ocoee Road was robbed about 4 a.m. by two men wearing multicolored clothing and covering their faces, possibly with T-shirts.

Deputies said the men, one armed with a shotgun, found a clerk in the back office and demanded money.

Surveillance video shows the men crouched down, almost sliding along the floor at times trying to go undetected before grabbing the clerk.

The robbers held the woman at gunpoint while she emptied out three cash registers. Then they took off with the cash and the clerk's cellphone.

The clerk wasn't injured but was visibly upset after talking to detectives Friday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

Friday's robbery adds to a string of convenience store robberies in central Florida in recent months.

On Tuesday, a masked man hit a 7-Eleven on Narcoosee Road.

Earlier in the week, surveillance video showed a robber demanding cash at an Orange County Circle K and Casselberry police believe the same man may have hit a Hess store in the area.

Channel 9 has learned there's been a state law in place for the past 22 years to protect convenience stores and their employees called the Convenience Business Security Act.

The law outlines a series of security standards for stores open from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and states stores should have things like proper lighting, silent alarms and working surveillance.

The Attorney General enforces the law and local law enforcement makes inspections. According to the Attorney General's Office, those inspections are made by law enforcement after a robbery occurs.
