Daytona Beach police are looking for the people who fired off high-powered rifles in the middle of a street on New Year's Eve.

The guns were found at a home on School Street after detectives patrolling on New Year's Eve heard them being fired shortly after midnight.

“They just followed it right in to where it was, and that's how distinctive and loud these sounds were coming,” said Chief Michael Chitwood.

Police said they found an AR-15 high-powered rifle, a pump shotgun and other weapons that had been fitted with tactical upgrades.

According to the report, officers showed up to the home where a group of men confronted them, asking police to leave, advising it was private property.

During the confrontation, officers wrestled Pedro Pinckney to the ground when they found him with a pistol.

Four other weapons were found behind a neighbor’s fence, police said.

“You have people who claim to be responsible, standing in their front yard on New Year's or New Year's morning firing off 25, 30 rounds from these four different weapons and one that we didn't get our hands on,” said Chitwood. “Twenty cops responded to this call, and they outgunned us. They outgunned every one of my officers."

No officers were injured, but Chitwood said the group of men claimed to be responsible gun owners.

However, police are still trying find out who exactly owns the weapons.
