BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. —
A Melbourne city employee saw more than he wanted to when a man reportedly flashed him during his lunch hour.
Scott Pelletier was in the public bathroom at Canova Beach, a new dog beach in Brevard County.
He heard someone walk in behind him and said what he saw next wasn't right.
"He didn't say anything to me. Acted like he had no fear whatsoever. Just normal thing for this guy," said Pelletier.
He didn't get a good look at the flasher's face and had no time to say anything before the suspect bolted.
Deputies questioned people throughout Canova Beach Park looking for the suspected flasher, but didn't have much to go on.
They believe the suspect drove away in a green crossover SUV and said no one could see his license plate.
Authorities said the beach has had problems like this before and is known for this sort of thing.
The incident took place around noon while dozens of people were around.
More people have started using facilities here since it became Brevard County's only dog-friendly beach.
While some visitors found the behavior alarming, others weren't surprised.
"I'm not really shocked. I'm glad it's not any worse than that," said beach visitor Kathleen Phipps.
Mark Weaver, another beach visitor, said there is something wrong with the suspect.
"It doesn't matter how young or old you are, you should know better," Weaver said.
Pelletier said he reported it because indecent exposure should not be tolerated in a public bathroom often used by children.
"We got a lot of people that come here, the tourists and stuff like that -- we don't need that," Pelletier said.
The suspect's car got lost in traffic before deputies arrived.
