ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. —
A northeast Florida couple spent two months looking for their cat, only to discover that the animal had been trapped in a neighbor's garage the whole time.
It's not clear how Jerry and Elizabeth Moore's cat, Tommy, got stuck in the garage in late November. The neighbor's visiting daughter discovered Tommy on Jan. 20 when she investigated a yowling noise she heard coming from the garage in St. Augustine Beach.
Elizabeth Moore tells The St. Augustine Record that veterinarians said Tommy was "severely depressed" after his ordeal and the best medicine was care at home.
Tommy also received stitches and a blood transfusion. The cat lost about six pounds during its disappearance. The Moores say eating and gaining weight has improved Tommy's mood.
