VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —
Firefighters spent much of the afternoon battling a brush fire that broke out in Volusia County on Thursday.
The blaze was reported just north of LPGA Boulevard, west of Interstate 95.
Several crews fought the fire, including the Daytona Beach Fire Department, Volusia County Fire Services and Florida Forest Services.
The blaze, which moved to the southeast, was initially reported as roughly six acres in size, but a short time later had grown to 60 acres, according to fire officials.
Shortly after 3 p.m. fire officials said the fire had been contained and fire crews were waiting for it to burn up to their containment lines.
Helicopters were used to drop water on the flames.
There were no injuries reported.
