OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
Some families living in Holopaw, Osceola County, have been allowed to return to their homes after a wildfire prompted evacuations on Tuesday.
In all, 10 homes were threatened by the quickly moving 50-acre fire.
Patricia Faella scrambled to get her chickens and piglets out of their pens before the brush fire moved in on her property.
“My animals, oh my goodness,” said Faella. “That's really all that was on my mind."
Skywitness 9 HD flew overhead to see the charred remains of Faella’s shed and recreational vehicle.
Firefighters said they faced a major obstacle before they finally were able to get the fire contained.
“Our biggest issue was the speed of the fire, how quickly it was moving because of the wind,” said Battalion Chief Andy Deley.
The fire department doesn't know what started the fire but they said with much of the dry brush, something was bound to spark.
Faella said brush fires have forced her out of her home several times in the past 10 years.
The Osceola Fire Department said no one was injured in the fire, and no homes were damaged.
