ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
Orange County deputies said two men went on a crime spree in Orlando Wednesday, terrorizing several robbery victims.
Deputies said two men tried to rob a Red Hill Grove's citrus store on South Conway Road, but were chased out by the owner.
Investigators said the men then tried to carjack a family and a 16-year-old in order to get away.
According to deputies, the men separated and Paul Castro, 29, stole a bike from an 11-year-old and rode it to the intersection of Gatlin Road and Conway Road.
"I've never been more scared in my life," said a teen victim, who did not want to be identified.
Investigators said Castro then tried to carjack someone in the middle of a neighborhood at Conway Gardens and Pershing.
"Pulls out the black M-9 semiautomatic hand gun, comes up to the window like this, taps it on the window. I hit the pedal and burned out in the grass," said another victim.
Then Castro, 29, tried again, investigators said His next victim did not want to be identified. She said Castro's demeanor made it difficult to know what he wanted.
"Honestly, he was very calm. He didn't say anything. When I saw the gun, I told everyone to get down, so I never saw anything, and after that, my husband said to gun and I gunned it. Not even looking at the road, so I was terrified. My children were in the car," said the victim.
In a third attempt, deputies said Castro succeeded by stealing a family's minivan.
Deputies said he drove three miles before ditching the minivan in a parking lot near Semoran Boulevard and Michigan Street.
Castro was caught and taken to a hospital. Deputies said he will be arrested after he is released from the hospital.
The second man remains at large, investigators said.
Deputies said Castro faces robbery and carjacking charges.
