POLK COUNTY, Fla. —
A 23-year-old is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly stabbing his bathing grandmother to death.
Polk County deputies said Christopher Whaley turned himself in after he stabbed his grandmother several times while she was taking a bath.
According to investigators, Whaley got into an argument with his grandmother, 69-year-old Barbara Denmark, and his aunt while they were in Daytona Beach Saturday.
Deputies said upon returning to Polk County, Whaley decided he wanted to kill them both. He then drove to her Lake Wales home to kill her, according to officials.
The alleged crime occurred in Denmark's home that she shared with Whaley.
Whaley allegedly used two kitchen knives to stab Denmark multiple times while she was in the bath. Detectives said for some reason Whaley decided not to kill his aunt, but instead called 911 and waited for deputies to arrive.
Denmark was pronounced dead at the scene and Whaley was taken into custody.
