Deputy shot during stand-off, suspect arrested

POLK COUNTY, Fla. —

A man is facing attempted first-degree murder charges Monday morning after allegedly shooting a Polk County sheriff's deputy during a stand-off.

Douglas Meadows was booked into the Polk County jail on Sunday.

Investigators said when deputies went to his home off Poinsettia Drive in Mulberry on Sunday, Meadows opened fire, hitting one deputy in the leg.

The deputy was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be okay.
