WFTV went behind the scenes at Walt Disney World's Fantasyland expansion on Wednesday.

The project has been under construction since 2010 and is big, even by Disney standards.

"This is the biggest expansion of the Magic Kingdom in its history. So we're going to have about double the amount of Fantasyland as people have seen before," said Walt Disney World Vice President Eric Jacobson.

WFTV visited new sections called Storybook Circus, the Little Mermaid's Journey Under the Sea, as well as the Beauty and the Beast castle area, with restaurants and an experience for children with Belle inside her house.

The project has created 1,500 jobs, including construction workers, new cast members and other positions.

"Everything we do to invest in the Central Florida community that drives guests to visit Orlando and Central Florida is huge for all of us . You know, 40 years ago it began right here with the Magic Kingdom," said Jim MacPhee, a Disney vice president.

Portions of the project are set to open later this year. Construction will continue into 2014 when the final ride, The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, is due to open.
