Twin sisters who were arrested in Palm Bay, accused of attacking their neighbor and child, are out of jail.

DaJuan Hill said he's been told repeatedly to ignore Sandra and Sondra Karwell, but when he said one of them knocked his mother to the ground and started punching and kicking her, he had to come to his mother's aid.

“I love her so much, so I need to protect my mom,” said Hill.

The Karwells were both arrested Sunday afternoon and face criminal charges of battery and child abuse.

Both sisters ran for City Council last year and have been under police and neighborhood scrutiny since a playground was built across from their home.   One of them was accused of harassing police dispatchers and the other was accused of battery.

In September, Sandra Karwell was even accused by police of trying to run over a child on his bicycle.

The Karwells insist they’re the victims being taunted and harassed, with things being thrown at their door by children in the neighborhood, the latest being a pumpkin.

But Hill told police the women provoked the latest episode, yelling racial slurs and profanities at him. When his mother came out to see what was happening, a brawl broke out, Hill said.

Even the police concede the dispute between the Karwells and the rest of their neighbors is only getting worse, but no one seems to be able to find a solution.
