A Central Florida community has come together to help a 15-year-old girl who was shot during a gunfight in Pine Hills earlier this year.
Danielle Sampson was shot in the head as she rode in her family's van in July. She has been in a coma ever since.
On Wednesday, Danielle was discharged from Arnold Palmer Hospital to a rehabilitation facility outside central Florida.
After that, family members will soon be forced to care for their daughter at their home, which could be a struggle since the home is small and they're running out of money to pay for Danielle's care.
While at the rehab facility, Danielle's mother will be trained on how to care for her daughter before she's sent home in two weeks. The community is mobilizing to help the family in a time of need.
Guenet Gittens-Roberts is president of the Carribean-American Chamber of Commerce. She was there Tuesday when Danielle's parents opened their home to WFTV, showing how it has no air conditioning and no room for a hospital bed.
"The move is happening, and they're not ready," said Gittens-Roberts. "Visiting her home yesterday, seeing how important a role she played in her parents' lives, seeing how active she was, it drove it home for me."
Gittens-Roberts and others are scrambling to find the family a new house and raise money to pay for it. Since Tuesday, almost a dozen air conditioning companies have offered their services to the family, and hundreds of dollars have poured into a fund for Danielle.

Pharmacy owner Elizabeth Ayotunde saw Danielle's parents on the news and donated $1,000.
“It could have been my child. I drive through Pine Hills all the time myself. It doesn’t even have to be Pine Hills, it could be anywhere,” Ayotunde said.
So far, one person has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Tyrone Mosby has been charged with attempted homicide.
Investigators said Mosby and his friends had just burglarized a home and opened fire when the homeowner came after them.
Investigators are still looking for others who were involved.
