ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
Hundreds of Progress Energy customers were without power for hours Wednesday night after a woman crashed into a utility box.
More than 2,000 customers near Waterford Lakes lost power due to the crash, just after 8 p.m.
Authorities said a woman was driving down the road when she lost control of her car and crashed into the utility box.
The crash knocked out power to nearly six blocks.
Authorities said the woman left the crash scene and went to her home, which is in the neighborhood.
State troopers said they were able to track her down and were talking to her Wednesday night.
Xavier Mooring said he was inside his home when he heard the crash.
“I was inside, we just heard a big collision and all of the lights went out. So I walked outside, just saw a big fire truck,” said Mooring.
Investigators said they weren’t sure how the woman lost control of her car or if she was under the influence at the time of the crash.
Power was restored late Wednesday night.
