APOPKA, Fla. —
An Apopka man arrested on charges of stabbing his neighbor faced a judge Wednesday.
The stabbing happened inside a mobile home park on Geneva Way on Tuesday. Police said the incident started because of a fight over the victim's alleged bad driving.
WFTV was at the Orange County Jail when Lorenzo Sanchez-Bellot, 59, was booked and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
"Did you stab that man?" WFTV reporter Tim Barber asked.
Sanchez replied that he did not speak English.
He was given a $3,500 bond for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on Wednesday. But family friends told WFTV that he is a kind person.
"That's crazy because I wouldn't think he would do something like that," said Chris Suarez.
Witness Katie Kim said she found Armando Cantero-Chavez stabbed in the chest.
"He was all humped over and everything, so we didn't hear anything. We didn't see anything," said Kim.
Officers said witnesses reported seeing Cantero driving recklessly.
"He hit the tree and then he tried to park, he hit the trailer," said eyewitness Omar Martinez.
Police said Sanchez confronted Cantero at his home about the reckless driving, and then Cantero punched Sanchez in the chest.
Officers said Sanchez then stabbed 28-year-old Cantero.
"He wasn't moving ... he was lying on his stomach," a witness told WFTV.
Cantero was in stable condition Wednesday.
Apopka police said Cantero may also be charged with assault after he is released from the hospital.
WFTV found out it's not the first time Sanchez has pulled a knife on someone.
He was accused of threatening to cut his friend in April.
An Apopka police report states Sanchez became angry because the friend fell asleep and was not answering the door when he tried to get his bike back.
Cantero also has a criminal history including charges for battery, child abuse, tampering with a witness and disorderly conduct.
