PINE HILLS, Fla. —
New documents reveal details leading to the accidental shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Pine Hills in July.
Danielle Sampson was caught in the crossfire of a shootout in Pine Hills. She remains in a coma and is fighting for her life.
More than 100 pages of newly released court documents show just how petty the crime was that led to the shooting, and it all started over drugs.
Police said suspect Tyrone Mosby and his friends were firing recklessly from a moving car at Chester Joseph, who was chasing their car in July after suspecting the group had burglarized his home.
But a confidential source told investigators Joseph had actually sold Mosby and his friends a pound of marijuana and that Mosby felt he was ripped off.
The source said Mosby then went back to the house to rob Joseph.
The documents also revealed an SUV used in the alleged burglary and shootout had been a stolen rental car that Mosby paid $30 in cash and $40 worth of cocaine for.
Sampson was in her family van when a bullet struck her in the back of her head.
The documents show investigators have tips about who was with Mosby at the time, but no additional arrests have been made.
