A woman who is accused of carjacking and stabbing an elderly woman in Daytona Beach has been denied bond in jail.

Police arrested Michelle Marie Tessier, 31, late Friday afternoon. Tessier allegedly stabbed and carjacked an 82-year-old woman in Daytona Beach on Friday.

Tessier has been charged with armed carjacking and aggravated battery on an elderly person. At her appearance in front of a judge Sunday morning, Tessier was denied bond.

Authorities said the victim, Frieda Sanchez, picked up Tessier at a Citgo station in South Daytona after Tessier said she was sick and needed a ride to the Walgreens near the intersection of International Speedway and U.S. 1.

But when the two women arrived at the drug store, things turned violent, police said.

“The female had a bag and she pulled out something like a steak knife,” said Jimmie Flynt of the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police said Tessier stabbed Sanchez twice in the arms with the knife. But they said  Sanchez put up a good fight.

“She has a chunk of the suspect’s hair that she pulled out.   She was able to jump out of the vehicle,” said Flynt.

Police said the Tessier fled in the Sanchez's gold 1994 Nissan Maxium.

Investigators said they arrested Tessier on Ridgewood Ave. in Port Orange after a brief foot chase.

Tessier has been arrested seven times in less than two years for charges including dealing stolen property and theft.

Sanchez was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Halifax Medical Center.

Police said Tessier was taken to Halifax Medical Center after she was taken into custody. She was booked into the Volusia County jail on Saturday and denied bond on Sunday.
