POLK COUNTY, Fla. —
Polk County deputies said they will resume their search this morning for a missing member of a family killed in a plane crash near Lake Wales on Thursday.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said 13-year-old Boston Bramlage was not found among the plane wreckage.
Investigators said they believe he was sucked out of the plane as it was going down.
"We know the child's not in the aircraft," Judd said. "We know there was a gaping hole in the aircraft."
Judd also said that the search will continue until the boy is found.
"We're looking for the child as if it were our child," Judd said.
Investigators said the massive debris field is as wide as three miles and that the plane may have started to split apart in the air.
There is still no word on why the plane went down.
A plane that once flew Casey Anthony out of Orlando after she was released from jail following her trial crashed in Polk County on Thursday, killing two adults and four children.
Authorities said the plane went down in a remote portion of the Tiger Creek Swamp area at about 12:40 p.m. near Lake Wales.
Ronald Bramlage, 45, was piloting the plane. His wife, Rebecca, 43, and their four children were also onboard.
The aircraft had taken off from Treasure Cay Airport in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas. It stopped at the St. Lucie County International Airport to clear customs and was headed to Junction City, Kansas before crashing south of Lake Wales.
Investigators do not know what caused the crash at this time.
Crews used helicopters to get rescue personnel to the crash site, which is not easily accessible by ground.
The Federal Aviation Administration's website lists the single-engine plane as a Pilatus PC-12/47, registered to Roadside Ventures LLC of Junction City. It was built in 2006.
Parts of the aircraft have been located as far as 2 miles from the crash site, authorities said. It is apparent that parts of the aircraft separated before the crash.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation. The NTSB and FAA will be conducting investigations related the crash. Additionally, the aircraft manufacturer and the engine manufacturer will be conducting investigations.
The plane is the exact same one that Casey Anthony was in the night she took off from Orlando. It was owned by Anthony’s former attorney, Todd Macoluso. WFTV learned he might have sold it earlier this year.
