ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said two drivers left the scene after hitting and killing a 17-year-old pedestrian in Orange County Friday night.
The teen was struck by three vehicles and two of them left the scene after the crash on Wetherbee Road, troopers said. Paramedics responded around 10 p.m. and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The 17-year-old, identified as Steven Mieses, was trying to cross Wetherbee Road near Landstar Boulevard when he was hit, according to FHP.
A Mitsubishi SUV, driven by 29-year-old Jose Shelvin, was the first vehicle to hit Mieses, troopers said. Shelvin stayed at the scene and waited for law enforcement. He is no facing any charges at this time, officials said.
According to troopers, Mieses was hit by two more vehicles that were traveling behind the SUV. Both of those drivers did not stop and continued driving.
Troopers are searching for the two vehicles, a white Dodge Neon with front end damage and another white car with undercarriage damage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
