Deputies have arrested five people accused of organizing a dog fight that left one dog dead and several others injured in Orange County.

Investigators discovered the alleged dog fighting ring after an anonymous tip. According to deputies, the suspects were profiting off of the fights.

Orange County Animal Services officials said its been quite some time since they've seized dogs used for fighting. Six pit bulls were rescued and are now recovering the animal services shelter.

Deputies described the dogs' injuries as 'horrid' and said one dog was found dead at the home on Ohio Avenue in Orlando. When deputies arrived at the home, dogs could be heard whimpering and appeared to be in pain, according to an arrest affidavit.

"Two cops pulled up and all of a sudden one ran in the back, he had his gun out and ran in the backyard," one neighbor told WFTV.

A total of 5 people, Eddie Jackson, Channson Darisaw, Jaqual Ford, Deven Griffin and Kimberly Beckford, were arrested in connection to the dog fight.

A few of the suspects went before a judge for their first appearance Saturday morning.

"You're charged with animal fighting," the judge said to Beckford.

According to the arrest affidavit, Beckford told police she just went to the home to watch the dog fight.

Deputies said they confiscated $600 cash after learning some of the suspects were making money off the fights. The 5 suspects have been charged with attending an animal fight or baiting.
