FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. —
Flagler County Sheriff James Manfre will be featured on new public service announcements aimed at promoting a crises hotline for those with mental health issues, the department announced Friday.
The announcements will air on four radio stations and will urge residents to seek help when they are feeling overwhelmed or suffering from depression, the department said in a press release.
"This weekend, our deputies responded to two suicides. Less than two weeks ago we were called to a suicide of a 23-year-old woman. We are seeing too many of these tragic incidents. This agency is working to take the lead in the county to get out information that may just save a life,” said Manfre in the press release.
Help may be sought by calling 911, where the caller can be connected to a professional counselor, or help may be sought by calling the Crisis Hotline serving Flagler County residents at 800-539-4228, the department press release read.
