ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
Investigators said an Apopka homeowner caught a man breaking into a vehicle in his driveway Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened at a home on E. Oak Street around 1:30 p.m., deputies said.
According to investigators, the homeowners have surveillance cameras installed outside their home and they saw the crime as it was happening.
A woman exited the home and confronted the suspect, who then shoved her, deputies said.
"I was just in my living room watching TV with my kids when I heard all this commotion," neighbor Cristiana Nieves said.
The woman yelled for her husband, who deputies said grabbed his gun and ran outside.
"He saw that he had a gun on him... When he saw that I guess he just got scared and took off," Nieves said.
The homeowner fired one shot into the air and the suspect fled, investigators said. No one was injured.
"He jumped over the fence right over there, and cut through our yard," Nieves said.
Detectives said the suspect left behind his shoes and his bicycle. He was caught by deputies a short time later.
"They got him so that's all that matters," Nieves said.
Officials said the suspect was booked into the Orange County Jail. His identity has not been released.
