A man accused of robbing a Daytona Beach bank is also accused of causing a bomb scare at a nearby Kmart.

Detectives say Michael Maupin, 31, was seen on surveillance cameras robbing the Wells Fargo bank on International Speedway Boulevard.

From there police say, he went to the Kmart store in the same shopping plaza and left a suspicious device there, causing the store to be evacuated.
 
Skywitness 9 HD was overhead as the bomb squad used a robot to inspect the device, which investigators say turned out to be wires taped to a cell phone.

Maupin was arrested late Tuesday afternoon at a Harley-Davidson store on Beach Street.

Police said Maupin was also trespassed from a McDonald's earlier in the day for strange behavior.

It isn't the first time Maupin has been in trouble with the law. WFTV learned that he has been arrested 28 times, with the most recent arrest coming in October for theft.

Other charges he has faced in the past include arson, burglary and aggravated assault.
