SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —
The Seminole County judge overseeing the case against George Zimmerman, who is accused in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, will decide whether to recuse herself from the case on Wednesday.
Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, filed a motion on Monday, requesting a new judge because of a potential conflict of interest.
Court officials said they're waiting for the official order and written response from Judge Jessica Recksiedler.
Recksiedler will likely recuse herself because her husband is a partner in the Mark NeJame law firm in Orlando.
NeJame is a high-profile attorney who is now a CNN analyst on the Trayvon Martin case. He is also the attorney who recommended O'Mara to Zimmerman after refusing to take Zimmerman's case.
Once the courts receive Recksiedler's written response and order, officials said the process will start to select a new judge.
Court officials said it's completely random and based on who is up next for a trial.
O'Mara is certainly concerned this could delay a bond hearing scheduled for Friday.
It's up to the new judge on whether that will go on as planned.
"And again he's doing well physically. He wants out. He is certainly frightened as to what's going on. He's very concerned with the process. But I think he understands it," said O'Mara.
The decision could delay Zimmerman's bond hearing, which is scheduled for Friday.
If a new judge takes over, he or she will get to decide if the bond hearing will be rescheduled.
