Kissimmee cop under investigation over accusations made against ex-girlfriend

KISSIMMEE, Fla. —

A Kissimmee police officer is under investigation by his own department and the Orange County Sheriff's Office over accusations he made against his ex-girlfriend.

A week after Christine Derusso broke up with Kissimmee detective Gary Johndro, she was forced from her house, because Johndro accused her of domestic violence and got a temporary restraining order.

Shehad 15 minutes to pack up, take her dog and leave.

"The night we broke up he told me don't forget what I do for a living. I have power and I know people and I'm coming after you," said Derusso.

She says he did.

The officer swore under oath they were living in her house and that she scratched and threatened him, and physically restrained him from calling for help.

Johndro swore Derusso has access to a gun, is mentally ill, and is off her medications.

Her doctor said that's not true.

Derusso said she broke up with him and changed the locks two days after he started moving in because she believed he was cheating.

"Anybody can take your address and go down and file a false claim and have you removed from your home," she said.

Johndro also told Circuit Judge Jeffrey Arnold, who granted the restraining order, that he had a tape recorder in his pocket and recorded her threats.

Derusso said if he did, he did it secretly, which is against the law and if he didn't, he lied under oath.

For the last month, because of the officer's accusations, Derusso hasn't been allowed to get close to her house, and neither has her mother, who owns the house.

For at least 10 days of the month, there's been no indication he's living here. Hidden cameras are monitoring who goes in and out. So far, there's been no one.

Derusso says this is about revenge.

"I believe he's completely in a position of power that he should not have," said Derusso.

Kissimmee police are investigating whether Johndro lied under oath and the Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating the recording.

Johndro didn't return WFTV's calls for comment.

And the judge didn't answer WFTV's question about why he didn't report the recording to law enforcement.
