Court documents filed in northeastern Montana say a Florida man charged with negligent homicide was friends with the victim and that both came to the region for oil field work.
According to an affidavit filed by prosecutors, 46-year-old Charles Bowen of Tavares admitted to investigators that he had a dispute with 49-year-old Brian Doyle on Jan. 11, and ordered Doyle out of his truck by the side of a highway near Culbertson.
Doyle's body was found Jan. 20 in a ditch along U.S. Highway 2.
A pathologist determined Doyle, who was from Jensen Beach, Fla., had injuries were consistent with a vehicle being driven over him.
But the affidavit does not say specify if Bowen ran Doyle over.
Bowen is being held on $100,000 bond in the Roosevelt County jail.
