While most students were out of school on Labor Day, one Lakeland Middle School student was hard at work taking a stand against bullying.

Jaylen Arnold, 12, is taking his anti-bullying project nationwide, with help from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Lakeland Police Department.

Arnold has received a $50,000 community grant that he said he plans to use to speak at schools and universities.

Arnold suffers from autism and Tourette's syndrome, and he said he knows what it's like to be bullied.

"A lot of people have told me they don't get bullied as much anymore and I'm their inspiration, and that's what puts a smile on my face every time," Arnold said.

Arnold is selling bracelets for those who would like to donate to his cause.

He said the proceeds will go toward educational materials to help students understand the impact of bullying.
