A construction site at Legoland will be transformed into a new attraction called the "World of Chima," based around a new Lego-themed TV show that just began airing on Cartoon Network.

The new project will include a floating mountain and a boat ride that lets passengers have water gun fights between boats.

"This is the first time ever that a theme park has launched a major expansion concurrent with the roll out of a  new brand and a new product line in the same year and as part of the marketing campaign," said Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND® general manager.

Lego, LEGOLAND® and Cartoon Network are banking on the new show to be a big hit. It has only aired twice so far, but it and past Lego-themed cartoons have tested very well on the network, according to company officials.

"It consistently is some of the best rated programming ever. When we saw Chima in its early stages we were just so excited. It really contains all those elements that kids love," said Kelly Deen of the Cartoon Network.

Those characters will come to life at the World of Chima -- in costumes at LEGOLAND® and as Lego action figures in toy stores. Part of a three pronged effort targeting kids with characters.

"We've been wanting to do something, and get involved with LEGOLAND® Florida for some time, so this just made absolute sense with all worlds aligning at once," said Deen. 
 
LEGOLAND® has already created 1,200 jobs for the area. Officials said the project will require them to add about 50 more positions to their staff.
