OVIEDO, Fla. —
The man who investigators said was drunk and speeding when he caused a crash that killed two young women is back in jail after being arrested on fraud charges.
Adam Nocheherly was arrested Nov. 6 on fraud charges in Oviedo.
He's also awaiting trial after being charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter and two counts of vehicular homicide in the 2008 crash that killed 20-year-old Julia Werner and her passenger, 19-year-old Charlotte Lemaster.
Asking the judge to put Nocheherly behind bars for the holidays, prosecutor Frank George said the suspect's latest arrest is further proof he can't be trusted to wait for his trial outside of a jail cell.
"I just don't know how many more bites at the apple Mr. Nocheherly gets to have," said George. "Mr. Nocheherly is simply not taking his conditions of pretrial release seriously."
Police in Oviedo said Nocheherly was working with three other men who were caught using stolen identification trying to swindle money from local banks.
"There are three people with a lot to lose that pointed to Mr. Nocheherly," said defense attorney Liz Fryer.
Nocheherly's attorney said the fraud case is flimsy and he's not a threat to the community or a flight risk.
But it was Nocheherly's second felony arrest while out on bond. In August, he was charged with domestic violence.
With all that plus a previous failed drug test for cocaine, Judge Margaret Schreiber ordered Nocheherly taken into custody on the spot.
"I hate to say that I'm happy for somebody to go to jail, but I feel that with all the things that Adam has been doing since the accident where he killed my daughter, that he feels that he is above the law," said Lemaster's mother, Linda Lemaster.
