Man in critical condition after bee attack

FLORIDA —

A south Florida man is still in critical condition after he was attacked by a swarm of bees.

Officials said Lewis Peters has been in the hospital since Saturday with pneumonia and is in a medically-induced coma.

Peters suffered a stroke in his back yard after being stung by the bees. When a neighbor spotted him, she knew something was wrong and ran for help.

“He was shaking,” said neighbor Eileen Wietchay. “You could tell, visibly, that he was shaken. He was foaming from the mouth."

The bees live in a tree that is located in the back yard of another home.

Neighbors said they are trying to get code enforcement and city hall to remove the bees.

But city officials said it's up to the homeowner to remove them.
