TITUSVILLE, Fla. —
A Titusville man who survived being shot nearly a dozen times by his neighbor was evicted from his home on Monday.
WFTV was there when Brevard County Sheriff's deputies served the final paperwork that ended Bruce Blake's stay in his Smith Drive home in Titusville.
Blake is the only survivor after police said his neighbor, William Woodword, shot him and two others in September.
"I couldn't get up. My legs wouldn't let me," said Blake.
Blake said he has applied for unemployment disability benefits, but WFTV found his application was delayed by the Florida Department of Health, which is asking for a second opinion on Blake's condition
"I was shot 11 times with 17 bullet holes, but I had to go get a second opinion," said Blake.
Blake hasn't worked since being shot and said he has problems with his liver, stomach and spleen, as well as issues with his legs and back.
"Of course, I can try, but my body won't let me do what I want it to do. I got shot; not able to go back to work, not able to do what I would normally do," Blake said.
With unemployment benefits tied up in red tape, Blake's family is four months behind on rent, and they're losing their home.
WFTV was there as Blake handed the keys to the house over to his former landlord.
"He's got to do what he's got to do," said Blake. "Everything just sucks."
Blake, his wife and two daughters will now stay with family members.
Anyone wanting to help the Blake family can contribute to the Blake Family Fund at any TD Bank.
