Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in a Daytona Beach home.

Crime scene tape surrounded a home on Keech Street as investigators collected evidence early Tuesday morning.

Officers said a woman went into the house to buy or use drugs at about 5 a.m., when a fight broke out that led to gunfire.

The victim was identified as Lesley Bouie, 48.

"She gets beat up. She walks across the street and tells her brother. Her brother comes over to avenge her honor and winds up being shot in the chest," said Chief Michael Chitwood of the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Investigators said they were talking to a person of interest and several witnesses, but no arrests have been made.

It was the second killing in three days in Daytona, and Chitwood isn't happy about it.

"The power to end gun violence is in the palm of the hand of the community. It's not the cops, it's not the prosecutors, it's not the judges," said Chitwood.

Police spent hours at the home on Keech Street looking into the death of Bouie.

Three days ago, 23-year-old Rayshard Mitchell was killed in an unrelated shooting on Verdell Street.

Police believe the victim was robbed but they have no suspects, and witnesses aren't talking to detectives.

"It's up to the community to take their streets back," said Chitwood. "You know we'll go out there, we'll work hard, we'll make arrests. But if the community doesn't step forward and say enough is enough, then our hands are tied."

In 2011, there were five murders in Daytona Beach. Two of those cases were solved, and arrests were made.

Out of the six this year, three cases have been solved, but three, including the two recent killings, remain open.
