Investigators have identified the man found dead outside an Orange County home on Monday.

Sheriff's deputies said they received a 911 call at about 8:30 a.m. about a body lying outside a home on 2nd and Nay streets.

"When deputies arrived on the scene, they did find (a) man lying deceased in the front yard of the trailer home," said Ginette Rodriguez, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Channel 9's Mark Joyella talked to neighbors who said they heard gunshots at about 10 p.m. Sunday night but thought they were firecrackers.

"There was no arguing, no nothing, but I did hear the gunshots. Sounded like it was in that driveway, that's how loud it was," said one neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.

But it wasn't until early Monday morning that someone found 31-year-old Jorge Alvarez lying on the ground in front of his home.

"That guy, he was sweet. He got up, went to work every morning, came home. He was quiet," said one neighbor.

Neighbors said Alvarez moved into a small white trailer about a year ago. They said he worked two jobs and mostly kept to himself.

"He was a landscaper, and he did a hotel job. He had his ups and downs, like everybody," said neighbor Mary Fuentes.

The medical examiner has not released the cause of death, but deputies have ruled Alvarez's death a homicide.

"At this time, detectives are interviewing witnesses, they are following numerous leads, but we do ask should anyone have information about this case to please call Crimeline," said Rodriguez.

Some in the neighborhood said it's not entirely unusual to hear gunshots. That's why many said they did nothing when they heard them Sunday night.
