Mark Joyella joined WFTV as weekend morning anchor and reporter in June 2012. Before joining Eyewitness News, Mark worked at CNN in New York and at television stations in Miami, Tampa and New York City. Mark has also served as a U.S. correspondent for Australian network TV, reporting for 7 Network’s top-rated morning programs Sunrise and The Morning Show.

Mark’s work as a reporter, anchor and writer has been honored with five Emmys, several Associated Press awards and his coverage of Hurricane Andrew won Best Spot News coverage from the Radio-Television News Directors Association.

A native of Connecticut, Mark graduated from Emory University with a degree in History and Political Science. In his years as a journalist, he’s reported from the Middle East, Cuba, and throughout Central and South America. He’s made a tailhook landing on the deck of the USS Harry S Truman and pulled 9 Gs with the Air Force Thunderbirds. He’s also swallowed fire at Coney Island (twice) and flown into the eye of a hurricane aboard a Hurricane Hunters aircraft.

Outside work, Mark’s completed five marathons and two triathlons—and he’s also been designated New York’s Most Annoying Husband by the New York Daily News and World’s Most Annoying Husband by a television network in New Zealand.

Mark and his wife spend most of their free time negotiating with their two year old daughter.
