ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
A central Florida nurse has been arrested, accused of forging prescriptions for painkillers.
She was supposed to be taking care of cancer patients as a nurse at the Cancer Centers of Florida, but investigators said that at center offices in Orlando and Winter Park, Tabetha Terry was forging prescriptions for painkillers.
"She of all people should know, as a cancer nurse, that these cancer medications are very addictive," said Catherine Johnson, an area resident.
WFTV's Kenneth Craig obtained documents pertaining to a drug trafficking investigation into Terry by the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.
The documents include a copy of a prescription for oxycodone that investigators said she forged using a stolen prescription pad.
According to investigators, Terry used at least six Orlando pharmacies to fill the prescriptions.
According to the investigation, a pharmacy worker became suspicious and called the Cancer Center.
Investigators said Terry confessed and was fired from her job.
According to the investigation, she said she did it because she was stressed with her boyfriend, and knew it was wrong.
Terry's nursing license was suspended last month. She was arrested Wednesday.
