A suspicious package put an Orange County high school and middle school on lockdown Friday.

Both schools are on Taft Vineland Road between John Young Parkway and Orange Blossom Trail.

One student told Channel 9's Racquel Asa that it felt just like a security drill.

David Restrepo was one of the first students out of the building after Freedom High School was put on lockdown.

"They just told us not to worry about it and not leave the school. That's about it and they didn't want to get too into detail with it," said Restrepo.

Orange County sheriff's deputies and the bomb squad shut down the road and surrounded the package just hours after the school day started at the high school, middle school and elementary school.

The Sheriff's Office said witnesses saw a man drop a box on the grass then drive off.

Some parents came straight to the schools after they received notice from faculty.

"To be honest, I know the school always tries to take care and they have all the information," said parent Will Maldonado.

After three hours of keeping students on lockdown, the bomb squad blew up the package. They determined it posed no threat.

Restrepo said felt just like a drill, much like the others he says the school has been doing regularly.

"It sticks. Everyone understands it when it goes down; it's just natural and you know what to do," said Restrepo.

The Sheriff's Office said us they are looking for the man who dropped off the package to question him. They believe he was a older white male driving a Jeep Cherokee
