A man found shot to death late Monday night along a bike trail near Prince Hall Boulevard has been identified, Orlando police said.

Jovan Sconiers' body was found shortly after witnesses said they heard gunfire coming from a pathway that leads to the bike trail.

"Just heard the gunshots while we were driving to our friend's house," said witness Rachel Francis.

Police said the 23-year-old was found by a person walking behind several homes along a bike path that goes through the Richmond Heights neighborhood.

The area is not known for violent crime, but residents didn't seem shocked by the death, police said.

"[In] this neighborhood, I automatically assumed somebody was dead," said Francis.

"It doesn't surprise you?" WFTV's Steve Barrett asked.

"No," she replied.

So far, police have not released any suspect or motive information.

Investigators have ruled the shooting suspicious.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS. A $5,000 cash reward is being offered in the case.

Sconiers had a lengthy criminal history that began when he was 13 with a bomb threat at his school. He also had been charged with grand theft auto, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
