ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

Two men accused in the deadly shooting of two people at an Orlando apartment complex are in jail. Parents of the victims spoke to Channel 9 about their children losing their lives during a robbery attempt.

"It's like really a rollercoaster ride. A rough rollercoaster ride," said Royston Williams, whose daughter Khoy was shot and killed.

Royston Williams fought back tears as he and his wife, Dorothy, spoke about their daughter just hours after authorities arrested her alleged killers.

"It's just a bittersweet day, it is. It's just bittersweet," said Dorothy Williams.

Khoy Williams, 24, and her friend Jonathan Cook, 17, were shot and killed during a home invasion robbery at the Middlebrook Farms apartments last month. A third person was shot in the same incident but survived.

"What would possess them to do this? He didn't have to pull the trigger. You make a choice," said Angela Mulleturo, mother of Cook.

Joshua Heard was arrested early Thursday morning. Orlando police said he's the man who shot the three people, killing Williams and Cook.

Authorities also arrested a Diego Alvarez, 17, who they said was an accomplice.

"I want to just slap them. Just take my baby's life like that," said Dorothy Williams.

According to police, Alvarez told them that he and Heard planned to rob a liquor store that night, but on the way there they spotted the three people at the apartment complex and decided to rob them instead.

Police said when one of the victims reached for the gun, Heard started firing.

"I really want to ask them one question: Why? Why?" said Royston Williams.

Heard is being held on a no-bond status at the Orange County Jail. Alvarez is being held in the juvenile justice system.
