ORLANDO, Fla. —

A man was arrested in connection with the slaying of a popular Orlando musician Thursday night,  according to police.

A tipster helped investigators break the case that had been unsolved since September 2011.

Police said Samuel Sweet Jr., 18, shot and killed Ralph Ameduri, during a botched robbery outside of Jessie's Bar in Polk County. Ameduri had stepped outside the Winter Haven bar to smoke a cigarette.

WFTV spoke with some of Ameduri's friends, who gathered at Will's Pub in Orlando Thursday, including Jeff Sweat, his best friend of 20 years.

"It's sad because he's gone, but I am glad that justice is finally going to get served," said Sweat.

Winter Haven police said they were able to catch Sweet after a tipster came forward and identified the vehicle seen in surveillance video. The video shows a car dropping off the man suspected of shooting Ameduri.

Sweet is facing several charges, including first-degree murder and robbery.
