An apparent domestic dispute led to gunfire at a busy Orlando intersection on Wednesday.

Witnesses told WFTV's Kathi Belich that they heard about 10 shots fired along Semoran Boulevard beneath the State Road 408 overpass. The shots were fired while the road was busy with lunch-hour traffic on Wednesday.

An Orlando police officer was helping Howard Hollins deal with a minor traffic accident at the intersection when the shooting started. 

"What did you think when you heard the shots?" WFTV reporter Kathi Belich asked Hollins.

"That it's a crazy world right now, it really is," said Hollins.

Joanna Fratitelli said her ex-husband, Carlos Gaston, 29, called her as he was driving her car with their baby inside. Fratitelli said Gaston told her that her sister's ex-boyfriend was ramming him with his car.

"He told me that the other guy was following him and hitting my car in the back," said Fratitelli.

Police said an officer near the scene heard the shots and saw Gaston shooting into the vehicle.

Police said Wilmer Torres-Orengo was shot once in the arm and taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
 
Fratitelli said Gaston was handcuffed at the scene and taken by police for questioning. Her child wasn't injured, she said.

Fratitelli told Belich that Torres had hard feelings after a bad breakup with her sister.

"He was mad because my sister was living with me. That's all," said Fratitelli.

The investigation into the shooting backed up traffic for more than an hour at the busy intersection.

Gaston has been charged with aggravated child abuse and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.  Both are felony charges, police said.
