ORLANDO, Fla. —
Orlando police are searching for a burglar who is behind a rash of bizarre break-ins at apartment complexes. A woman told WFTV the man crawled into her bed in the middle of the night and struck up a conversation.
"He just walked in and laid in bed with me and started talking to me and having a normal conversation with me, like (it was) nothing," said the woman, who did not want to be named.
This strange crime has happened several times at multiple apartment complexes in the area near Semoran Boulevard and Curry Ford Road.
Those who've been victimized were only frightened. The woman WFTV talked to said she expected the burglar to get violent at any moment.
"I didn't know if I screamed if he was going to come out with (a) weapon. I couldn't see; it was dark," she said. "He needs to get caught before it escalates more."
Investigators said they believe the man is breaking into East Orlando apartments, but harming no one and stealing nothing.
"I hope they catch him. He really needs to get caught because he's a psychopath," said the woman.
"He comes into my apartment and talks to me like he's a friend of mine in the middle of the night at four in the morning. That's not a normal person," said the woman.
"He had cologne on he had nice dress slacks on. He's not homeless, mental issues probably," said the woman.
The woman said she demanded that the man leave her apartment, and then he complied and left.
Orlando police want the burglar off the streets because they aren't sure what he'll do next.
"He's been escalating. I was told he started out by robberies and now he's going to women so obviously he's escalating already. It's only going to get worse from here," she said.
Police are circulating flyers at severalapartment complexes, including Dovetail Villas and the Renaissance Apartments, hoping someone tips them off before another break-in.
